Crew: The Power Six.

After dodging images of characters with symbols, I’ll be nice and let you see how I see these guys through the power of my sever lack of artistic ability. Seriously… almost as bad as my writing…
These are the six central characters throughout Sha Ka Ree. There are others who are just as, if not teeny bit more important, to the plot, but these are the ‘power six’ for reasons you’ll have to find out later.
From left to right we have…
Lt. James Morgan
Commander of a small scout ship, Morgan is a mission operator assigned to Sha Ka Ree’s local fleet. Usually carrying out rescue operations he’s recently been assigned to carry out intelligence operations by the Admiralty.
Once a career ambitious promising young officer, Morgan has become alienated with the service not only through recent assignments but by a collapse of his personal life.
Captain Kristan Lakotda
A long serving Starfleet officer, Lakotda was a graduate of Starfleet Academy before the Kolar made contact with the Federation.
The captain gained his command during the Dominion war. Surviving through those years he led a team in the evacuation of Romulus before it’s destruction and has since became an unofficial ambassador to the Romulan people. Despite never accepting promotion, he is a valued officer to Command though some have spoken out against his command style as he has, on several occasions, disobeyed orders or acted without consulting command – such as assembling a task force to evacuate Romulus.
Lakotda is Pridorn, one of the oldest and smallest tribes of Sakaria blessed, or in his opinion cursed, with long life, previously serving within the MOD.
He has strong bonds with his homeworld and a love for his planet and the Kolar but after leaving his world a century ago he has no desire to return to Sakaria for reasons he will not share with his crew mates.
Commander Amy Kirkpatrick
The administrative force behind Sha Ka Ree, Kirkpatrick has served on the facility for over three years as part of Admiral Reisman’s staff and was given the position of executive officer not long after the start of 2406.
Unlike other command officers, she has no ambitions of sitting in the ‘big chair’ and is comfortable in her work, even enjoys the stress levels though she’d never admit it.
She has contemplated positions as ships captain, but turned down oppertunities to free up time to care for her son, a responsibility she shares with her estranged husband who moved to Sha Ka Ree with her when they were still married.
Johak Selan Tenagra
A recent addition to Sha Ka Ree, Tenagra was appointed as chief engineer to the city as part of the absorption of the Kolar MOD forces. Originally contracted to the Orr’sal, Tenagra was brought into the service as a civilian specialist due to his private experimental research.
Ever since his transfer he has driven his superiors mad with his continued experimental reprogramming of systems and failure to conform to any standard of work set by Starfleet regulations.
Lt. Commander Chel’si
As a member of the Lon’Osaar family of Sakaria, Chel’si comes from a privileged background which guaranteed her a high profile career in the MOD. Despite hat she could have gained, she distances herself from her families power and decided to make her own destiny.
Uncomfortable with public perception of her family, she prefers to distance herself from Sakarian events. Although she was only assigned to SKR as Starfleet assumed she’d want to stay close to her family, she only stayed so she could marry the man she fell in love with who is also the man who helped her fall back in love with her people.
Dr. Marcus de Luca
One of the first Federation officers to come to the Kolar Region, de Luca settled on Sakaria and became an ambassador for the Federation after being led there in his research into the extinct Iconian race. Once he arrived he immersed himself in their culture not only by researching but by having a Link data-port installed in his cerebellum and adopting a modern tribal image – though the link caused several physical problems and an immunity to medicines such as Retnox, which forces him to wear glasses and have several cybernetic implants to help him function.
The respect he gained from the Sakarians made it easier to marry into the Lon’Osaar family after falling in love with their daughter Chel’si Osaar.
Serving as an expert on the Kolar, de Luca places Anthropology and Natural Sciences at the top of his specialities, though is skilled in all Life Sciences adopted by Starfleet and was assigned as the Director of Science and Research at Sha Ka Ree due to his ambassadorial connection with the Kolar.
So…. there you go. Brief, but pointless.
I say pointless, but theres a hint of information there thats vital to Year One that’ll come up at some stage…
Through the quick pic I drew you can also see the style of uniforms I came up with for the story. There are two styles, one is an casual jacket with a variation on the ‘First Contact’ style. The second is a variation on the ‘All Good Things’ style outfit from the future but with a black tunic.
You may say theres three, but Tenagra is shown in one of the undershirts.
I’ve also kept the AGT commbadge and added mission patches, everyone but Morgan has a Sha Ka Ree city patch on the right, Morgan wears Starfleet Ops. On the left is a Federation patch with a Starfleet symbol undereath.
Anyway… uniforms stuff may be up another day.
I feel the need to add… as I can barely draw, and can’t draw people at all (seriously, look at Kirkpatricks hand, it looks like a foot) I ended up using real people as a template. From left to right it’s me, a combo of Min-Sik Choi and a Ji-tae Yu, Jane Goldman, Naveen Andrews, Grace Park and Raven.
